Abbey Terrace Road Closure

R294 (Abbey Terrace), between Convent Junction Roundabout and the Schilling Hill Roundabout.

Alternative Routes: Traffic from Boyle Town off the one-way system from Shop Street onto the R294 from Convent Junction Roundabout to its junction with the N4 at Kilbryan. Turn Left onto the N4 and continue to Boyle Junction at Tawneytaskin, turning left onto the link road and back to the Schilling Hill Roundabout. Likewise west bound traffic on the N4 for Boyle will be diverted to Junction at Tawneytaskin as outlined above.

Duration of Closure: Period of 24 hrs, from 00:00 hrs on Friday 30th January 2009 to 00:00 on Saturday 31st January 2009.

This and key locations will be supervised by members of An Garda Siochana, and diversion signs will be in place, also advance information signs (Rennick LED Displays) will be utilized.

Road Closure 2 Saturday 31 January

L-10194-0 from Rockingham Demense to its junction with L-1019-0, and along L-1019-0 to its junction with R285 at Errironagh.

Alternative Routes: Traffic wishing to access Rockingham, Lough Key Forest Park may still do so via the Main Entrance off the N4 at Ballykeevican, or alternative entrance at Drum, Boyle using the flyover bridge at Erris.

Duration of Closure: Period of 7 hrs, from 09:00 hrs to 13:00 hrs and 14:00 hrs to 17:00 hrs on Saturday 31st January 2009.

Reason for Closure: To facilitate a Co-Drive Experience as an ancillary event to Rally Ireland, World Rally Championship 2009.

Location will be marshaled by Members of Boyle World Rally Festival Committee, and assisted by other Festival Marshalls. The Garda Siochana will also be available to assist where necessary.

Formula One's Eddie Jordan to play in Boyle


Former Formula One boss Eddie Jordan and his band, Eddie and the Robbers, will play a free outdoor gig at Boyle World Rally Festival on Friday 30th January.


The former motor racing chief on drums, Jonathan Perkins on keyboards, Pete Noone on bass and Matt Exelby on guitar will play a soul and ‘60s R&B set with covers of songs by Thin Lizzy, Bowie, Dylan, Fleetwood Mac and others. The three musicians performing with Eddie have recorded and toured worldwide, playing alongside such artists as Brian May, Joe Elliott, Mike Rutherford, Nick Mason, The Pretenders and Bob Geldof.
The band will take to the Micro-Cam stage and big screen in Shop Street Car Park at 7.30pm for the Boyle World Rally Festival on Friday 30th January.
